Simple pleasures can derive from disparate sources; whether it be the joyful expressions of a child or the creation of music. On A Child's Smile, Argentine pianist/composer Adrian Iaies takes inspiration from the former and channels it through an expressive program of music. The three time Latin Grammy nominee leads his trio, featuring bassist Ezequiel Dutil and drummer Pepi Taveira, through some wonderful jazz compositions that hint at a tango flavor.

“This is an album of songs, in the traditional sense of the term, like the standards that make up the universal repertoire of jazz,” Iaies told For years and years, jazz was based and related to songs, and I wanted the trio to play in that vein – to improvise of course, but always within the format of the song.” Iaies told Miguel Frontman of the Buenos Aires Herald. “For years and years, jazz was based and related to songs, and I wanted the trio to play in that vein – to improvise of course, but always within the format of the song.”
